Huninga mansion Beerta
This monumental mansion with historical value is currently being restored. The house is situated on a side arm of the Oldambt Lake next to the nature reserve "Reiderwolde", and has its own pier at the water side. In the barn, a beautiful wellness area with private indoor swimming pool (5 x 9 meters), whirlpool, sauna, and heated terrace, as well as an indoor volleyball court, are made. There will be 15 double bedrooms, each with its own bathroom available. The 13 newly constructed bedrooms all have private access to the garden. The house is energy neutral.
The Huninga mansion is fully equipped to receive disabled people and wheelchair users.
The mansion is a classic example of the large-scale farms that were built during the heyday of the "Grain Republic" along the Wadden see and the Dollard. The current farmhouse dates from 1858, but was built on the foundations of a seventeenth-century mansion, the moat of which has been partially preserved. This mansion is best known for one of its residents, the legendary nobleman Sebo Huninga (1605-1661), who took the lead in the struggle of the Oldambtster farmers against the city of Groningen.
This luxurious group accommodation is an ideal starting place for water sports, but also for hiking and cycling tours, or for just being together with family or friends. At the nearby Dollard coast, you will find the spa town Bad Nieuweschans and the impressive New Statenzijl on the German border. You can walk here with panoramic views of the Dollard and the Wadden Sea.
